Ray Staines
Founder

Ray was a badly behaved underachiever at school. He left in 1973 with no qualifications, poor mental health and poor employment prospects. He drifted into drugs and alcohol and by age 21 he found himself in hospital after an acute psychotic episode. This turned out to be a reset moment that changed his life: In a moment of clarity, he recognised that from this low point, the only way was up and started to rebuild his life from scratch. Fast forward to 1998 and Ray was a professional yachtsman running a charter business in the Caribbean and an amateur pilot.
At age 39, recognising that the education system had let him down, he enrolled as a mature student. He was subsequently diagnosed with dyslexia and Language Processing Disorder. This was an epiphany for Ray and he realised that he could have been a scientist or an engineer if he hadn't been excluded due to undiagnosed dyslexia.
When he found out that as recently as 2021 80% of dyslexia goes undiagnosed in schools, he was inspired to develop a solution. The result is Kyne.
